Pedro Rebelo, born in 1972 Viseu, Portugal. Pedro is a composer/digital artist based in Edinburgh. His approach to music making is informed by the use of improvisation and interdisciplinary structures. He has been involved in several collaborative projects with visual artists and has created a large body of work exploring the relationships between architecture and music in creating interactive performance and installation environments. This includes a series of commissioned pieces for soloists and live-electronics which take as a basis the interpretation of specific acoustic spaces. In the duo laut with saxophonist Franziska Schroeder he investigates the extension of interfaces and control in interactive performance practices.

Pedro 's work ranges from electroacoustic music on tape, to music for instruments and digital media, and interactive installations. Works such as "Aquas Liberas" for Tenor Saxophone and Digital Media have been performed at various international events (Sound Practice, CADE2001, CIRCUS2001, London Sinfonietta's State of the Nation). Other performances include Futura, ICMC and Synthèse Bourges and broadcasts by Deutschlandfunk and BBC Radio 3. Part of the Hörgänge Festival at Vienna's Konzerthaus, Pedro has recently worked on a digital media performance for a multi-disciplinary event dedicated to the work of Portuguese modernist poet Fernando Pessoa .

Pedro has been musical assistant for electroacoustic festival Música Viva since 1999. He has recently been awarded a PhD in composition from the University of Edinburgh and is currently a full-time specialist tutor in digital design at this institution's Department of Architecture.
