since its acclaimed series with NMC (London DO34;Klang
D035;Mixed D036), SONIC POSTCARDS is a dark compilation
of nineteen short works collected from across
Europe.
Featuring
a diverse mix of established and emerging artists
including Peter Green whose work is usually found
on Aphex Twin’s Rephlex label; Ian Helliwell
whose electron gun analogue approach to sound
contrasts starkly with the digital glitch of current
trends; And Simon Vincent whose recent composition
Shinkansen was likened to an inspirational classic
by The Wire, Sonic Postcards is part experiment
– an attempt to redress the balance between
the ear and they eye in a concept album; part
document – a contemporary cross-section of
electroacoustic artists, from the acousmatic to
the acoustic ecologist.
