This limited edition CD features19 sonic artists who have come together to produce a unique collection of electronic works. Taking the theme of place, the artists have subverted the reality of the sounds which surround them in their everyday lives and transformed them in to short 'Sonic Postcards'.

The works have been selected from an international call for sound clips and electroacoustic works and are all between 1-3 minutes long. The short pieces are the perfect suitor for the sonic arts, grabbing attention and expressing the range of creative possibilities for working with sound. Two of the shortlisted works were broadcast on BBC Radio 3's Hear and Now programme in April and were also performed at the State of the Nation Festival at the South Bank Centre, London.

The Sonic Postcards CD will be the first release on the new Sonic Arts Network record label. Previously SAN released three CDs - Klang, London and Mixed - on the NMC label, featuring works by Jonty Harrison, Katharine Norman and Alistair MacDonald.

The CD will be available in Feb 2001. Watch this space for more information or contact SAN on 020 7928 7337
