Jonathan Impett has given premieres of works by composers such as Berio, Harvey, and Scelsi. His own work explores the relationship between the time scales of composition and performance, for which he has received a Prix Ars Electronica.

He also works in the field of historical performance with the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century. Since 2000 he has directed the EC-sponsored Meta-Orchestra, and he currently teaches at the University of East Anglia.
